This study has been commissioned to understand how news is currently being consumed globally. Core questions were asked in France, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Japan, Brazil and the US as well as the UK to a nationally representative audience to provide an international comparison. Looking at all the different platforms together, though, it's important to remember that print is still by far the biggest platform for newspapers. Even for this sample of online adults, print still dominates “85% of newspaper readers read print, compared with 41% using computers”. Over half of the 36.5 million who read a newspaper in any format the previous week ONLY read a print version. And while 34% of digital newspaper readers own a tablet, tablet readers form just 9% of the total newspaper reach.
