Two Sides are excited to announce its newest partnership with the not-for-profit organisation, Book Industry Communication (BIC).
BIC work at the heart of the UK book industry to promote supply chain efficiency in all sectors of the book world through e-commerce, best practice, training, events, and the application of standards.
BIC helps publishers become more efficient, save money, become less wasteful and ultimately greener. At the cornerstone of the book industry, BIC holds a unique position of trust, facilitating UK and international industry-wide collaboration to reach agreement on dependable standards and best practices in the supply chain.
Karina Urquhart, Executive Director of BIC, says “BIC is at the heart of the sustainability conversation within the UK book industry and as such is very concerned about improving the use and information about the environmental credentials of the paper being used in book manufacture. Our partnership with Two Sides is very exciting for the book industry as it will help us to improve the level of sustainability in our paper use and introduce the powerful ‘Love Paper’ campaign to our broad and varied membership and beyond.”
The book industry has historic roots with print and paper. Two Sides research has shown that 72% of consumers prefer to read books in print. Despite the warnings of e-books and digital devices, printed books remain a popular and loved format for reading.
The partnership between BIC and Two Sides will ensure that publishers, printers, and consumers understand the environmental credentials of physical paper books. This will ensure that the love of reading books in print remains a viable sustainable choice for future generations to appreciate.
“Our partnership with BIC will help us share the great sustainable story of print and paper to an industry who cherishes the medium we work hard to promote. We look forward to working with BIC throughout 2020 and beyond,” says Jonathan Tame, Managing Director of Two Sides UK.
By joining Two Sides, BIC has access to a large library of co-brandable communications tools, consumer research, industry-leading information, sustainability advice, and events.
